Editorial Guidelines
UngrindFi is committed to providing accurate, trustworthy financial education. These guidelines govern how we create, review, and maintain our content.
Last Updated: January 2026
Accuracy First
Every claim is fact-checked against primary sources before publication.
Independence
Editorial decisions are never influenced by advertising or affiliate relationships.
Continuous Improvement
We actively correct errors and update content as information changes.
Our Editorial Mission
UngrindFi exists to demystify financial independence and retirement planning. We believe that everyone deserves access to clear, accurate financial education—not just those who can afford professional advisors.
Our content aims to inform and educate, never to provide personalized financial advice. We explain concepts, present data, and help readers understand their options so they can make informed decisions with qualified professionals.
Content Standards
Source Requirements
All factual claims must be supported by credible sources:
- Primary sources preferred: Government data (.gov), academic research (.edu), peer-reviewed studies
- Secondary sources: Reputable financial news outlets, established research institutions
- Avoid: Anonymous blogs, social media posts, promotional materials, outdated research
When citing statistics (e.g., market returns, inflation rates), we link to the original data source, not secondary reporting.
Financial Information vs. Financial Advice
We provide financial information and education—not financial advice.
Financial advice is personalized guidance based on your specific situation, which requires professional licensure. Our content is general educational information that helps you understand concepts and options.
Our language reflects this distinction: We say "historically, a 4% withdrawal rate has..." not "you should withdraw 4%." We present data and research, not directives.
Author Qualifications
Content is written by Taro Schenker, founder of UngrindFi and London Gold Exchange, with demonstrated expertise in investing and personal finance:
- 15+ years of hands-on investing experience across equities, precious metals, and financial markets
- Founded and operates two financial education platforms
- Self-directed research into FIRE strategies, tax-advantaged accounts, and retirement planning
- Ongoing education in tax law, investment strategies, and retirement planning
All content includes author attribution with a link to their full bio, so readers can assess the author's qualifications.
Fact-Checking Process
Every piece of content goes through a rigorous review process:
Research & Drafting
Content is researched using primary sources and drafted with inline citations.
Source Verification
Each cited statistic, formula, and claim is verified against the original source.
Calculator Validation
Calculator results are tested against known benchmarks and manual calculations.
Currency Check
Tax rates, contribution limits, and regulatory information are verified as current.
Final Review
Content is reviewed for clarity, accuracy, and appropriate disclaimers.
For technical tax and legal content, we reference official IRS publications and, when appropriate, note that readers should consult qualified professionals for their specific situations.
